Physical measurements and skill self-concept and their relationship to shooting accuracy skill of youth football

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the values ​​of physical measurements related to the physical self-concept and the accuracy of the scoring skill for young people in soccer, as well as to identify the type of relationship between each of the physical measurements related to the physical self-concept and the accuracy of the scoring skill for young people in soccer. The researchers used the descriptive approach using the survey method and correlational relationships. The research was conducted on a sample of the youth of the Kufa Sports Club participating in the Premier League for the sports season (2023-2024), who numbered 16 players out of 28 players. The researchers used a number of devices, tools, and means of collecting information, and then determined physical measurements and a measure of physical self-concept. The researchers concluded that the physical measurements related to young football players were that the young football players showed a positive degree in relation to their physical self-concept. The young football players showed a positive degree in relation to the skill of scoring in football. A significant correlation appeared between all physical measurements and the skill of scoring on goal among the Youth football players. In light of the conclusions reached, the researchers recommend emphasizing the necessity of conducting physical measurements periodically to determine the selection of players suitable for the skill of scoring in football, and working to select players with appropriate physical measurements for this skill because of its close connection with other basic football skills.
