Abstract

The study aimed to find specific auxiliary exercises to enhance motor coordination and the performance of some basic ground movement skills, and to determine the effect of their use in learning gymnastics movements. It also sought to ascertain whether there are significant differences between the experimental group that utilized these exercises and the control group that did not use them. The researcher relied on the experimental method through a comparative approach to test the research hypotheses, which included the proposition that there is an effect from the use of the proposed auxiliary exercises in learning and acquiring motor coordination in performing gymnastics skills. Additionally, there are statistically significant differences between the results of the experimental and control research groups in the test employed in the study.

The motor coordination of the performance of the research sample individuals during the test was evaluated by a committee of subject teachers. The sample consisted of two groups of second-stage students at the College of Physical Education / University of Babylon, who were not previously trained in gymnastics and were not failing. Each group included 15 students, making the total number of individuals in the sample 30 students. Based on the results obtained from the research procedures, the researcher concluded the possibility of developing general motor coordination ability (coordination skill) among learners using the proposed exercises as auxiliary exercises to enhance overall motor coordination. The researcher also concluded that the use of the proposed auxiliary exercises had a positive effect on learning and acquiring the motor coordination specific to performing movements in floor exercise skills. The researcher's recommendations included utilizing and applying the proposed exercises presented in the study as fundamental auxiliary exercises in the process of teaching gymnastics to beginners and emphasizing them in the warm-up and main parts of the educational unit.
