Psychological toughness and its relationship to the performance of the forehand and backhand skills in tennis

The importance of the research was to help teachers, trainers, and those in charge of the educational process in the field of physical education to change and overcome the old methods and methods relied upon in order to achieve the goal of the educational method. The study aimed to identify the degree of psychological toughness among the research sample in tennis, as well as to identify the relationship between psychological toughness and the forehand and backhand skills among the research sample in tennis. The two researchers used the descriptive approach using the survey method. The research population was determined from the third-stage female students at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls/University of Baghdad for the academic year 2022-2023. They numbered 148 female students distributed into six sections (A-B-C-D-E-F). (10) female students were randomly selected for the exploratory experiment and (40) female students for the main experiment. The researchers concluded that the female students of the third stage enjoyed a degree of psychological toughness, in addition to that psychological toughness has a positive and effective role in the accuracy of the performance of the forehand and backhand skills among the research sample in tennis. Thus, the researchers recommended that the educational units include a special aspect to prepare the student psychologically to endure the time period of the educational unit. And benefit from it.
