Abstract

The cognitive apprenticeship method aims to find students who possess thinking and performing abilities by encouraging them to form their ideas and helping them to be more aware while engaging in educational activities, cooperating with each other in groups and working on real tasks to apply what they have learned in educational situations, especially when learning important and difficult skills. The importance of the study is evident in the role of the cognitive apprenticeship method in learning the skills of setting up from above and blocking in volleyball. The problem of the research lies in trying to overcome the difficulties that students face when performing the skills of setting up from above and blocking the wall in volleyball, and to break away from stereotyping and routine in the learning process, and to apply the principles of a new cognitive style that invests in students’ abilities and potentials to the maximum extent possible. The researcher used the experimental method with two control and experimental groups with pre- and post-tests. The research sample was fifth-grade middle school students in the project middle school in Babylon Governorate.
