An analytical study of the history of the emergence of the Iraqi Paralympics Committee and the time period from 1987 to 2017

Abstract

Summer Paralympics Games of 1988 in Seoul, South Korea in 1988 , was another turning point. It was held in the same city using the same facilities as the Summer Olympics, followed by the 1992, 1996 and 2000 tournaments. After that, the 1992 Winter Olympics was the first in the Winter Paralympics that used the same facilities  for the Winter Olympics, and it was finally agreed between the International Paralympics Committee and the International Olympic Committee in 2001 and was recently extended until2020.                                          The  research significance  lies in a serious attempt by the researcher to determine the priorities of the establishment of the Iraqi Paralympics Committee, the date of its founding and the period time  that followed it from 1987 to2017   . The founding of the Iraqi Federation for the Disabled Sports on February 8, 1982, has played  the prominent role in the care and rehabilitation of the disabled a will ensure  to provided them with educational ,integrated and correction preparation .                                  

Throughout the years of its founding, the Federation took it upon itself to  work on laying the right foundations for disabled sport in Iraq and developing the sports movement through the establishment of many championships and internal competitions as well as keenness to participate in  international championships.                                                                               Therefore, the researchers decided to go into this previously unreachable topic in the form of a scientific study to start historical documentary pages to get acquainted with the history of the emergence of the Paralympics courses from 1987 to 2017 . The research aims to documenting the history of sport for the disabled in Iraq and identify the history of the creation of the Paralympics Committee from 1987 to 2017.
