Abstract

The research aims to identify differences in selective attention and working memory among students of hyperactivity and their ordinary peers

The descriptive approach of comparisons was used due to its suitability for the nature of the research. The research community was chosen from sixth grade students from Dylan Mixed Primary School in the center of Arbil governorate for the scholastic year 2016-2017. The students were aged (11-12) years old, totaling (89) male and female students, divided into three sections.  40 female students were excluded from the community and the study was limited to the male students only. The students with hyperactivity were identified by using the teachers who spent one year with each department, depending on a special list, which identified that category ,totaling  (15) male  students out of the three sections  ,and 15 students ,from the sections, were chosen by lot to represent ordinary students.

Thus, the study sample reached (30) students divided into two equal groups, one of them with motor was hyperactivity and the other was ordinary students (61.22%) of the research community. The research tool consisted of (Optical selective attention scale and optical working memory scale to measure the capacity and duration of working memory storage) .The standard mean - standard deviation –Test (No) ) for independent samples  was used as statistical means.
